After breakfast at the hotel our driver and a preferred-language guide will meet you and start the temple tour.
Like any religion, Hinduism takes various forms and expressions developed over many centuries. Gurudwara Bangla Sahib (Sikh Gurudwara), the first stop in New Delhi is a Sikh temple and community centre remarkable for its voluntary workers who provide free meals for anyone every day. The guide will explain something about Sikhism and its beliefs and practices.
Across the Yamuna River the Akshardham Temple, one of the largest in India and richly ornamented, provides an experience of the more conventional idea of classic Hinduism.
Lunch will be South Indian food in a neighbourhood of little characteristic street markets.
Back in New Delhi the Laxmi Narayan Temple in a pleasantly calm and reflective setting offers yet another aspect of the Hindu religion.
