The Outback Experience presents the perfect opportunity for all you budding bird photography enthusiasts to go beyond the basics and master advanced techniques of bird photography. This specially crafted two-day photography workshop is designed so that you can begin to nail capturing images of birds in flight, get through tricky lighting situations and ultimately produce captivating images of birds.

The workshop will be held at The Outback Farm & Homestay, our own property on the edge of a gleaming lake, which is the perfect gateway to experiencing the joys of birding and bird photography.

The Bannerghatta National Park is a bird enthusiast and photographer’s dream destination, with over 150 species of birds including the yellow-throated bulbul and Rufous-bellied eagle. The Outback Farm and Homestay also features a special bird photography hide that overlooks a large bird bath and natural perches that attract many species of birds, some of which are red spurfowl, barred button quail, yellow-eyed babbler, white-rumped shama, puff-throated babbler and many more.

What’s better, with award-winning wildlife photographer Phillip Ross as your workshop instructor, you are sure to have a fun-filled, educational, interactive and creative time. Phillip will also ensure that there is a lot of individualized attention and will cater to all of your doubts and questions.

Phillip knows this region like the back of his hand and will lead you across areas of Bannerghatta seldom visited by tourists.

The workshop will include not only theory-based learning but a lot of practical learning too.

Come join us and enroll yourself for this one-of-a-kind workshop!

Q: How many participants can be expected to attend? A: A maximum of 6 adults is expected. The Outback Experience’s USP is to provide as much individual attention and quality time to each participant as possible and thus the workshop strength has been kept low. We do not cater to very large groups per batch! Q: Where are we staying and what sort of accommodation and food can we expect? A: We will be staying at The Outback Farm & Homestay in Bannerghatta. The farm & homestay is situated right on the periphery of the park and overlooks the jungle. All participants will be staying in ultra-luxurious and well-furnished rooms or tents. The food served is a delicious buffet spread of local, Indian and Anglo-Indian delicacies. Q: What are the requisites for the workshop? A: Bringing your own camera is strongly recommended since we’ll have practical exercises for all the discussed topics. This camera should ideally be a Digital SLR (DSLR) to make the most out of the workshop. In case you do not have a DSLR, a point-and-shoot camera with manual controls will also suffice. Please contact us if you’re not sure if your camera is suitable or if you require help to hire a camera. As this workshop also has a class on post-processing of images using Adobe Lightroom, please bring your laptop with the latest version of Adobe Lightroom installed. Please contact us for any help regarding this.
