The Badami Chalukyas - A Heritage Walk

Badami has a history that dates back to the 6th century when the Badami Chalukyas established their capital here. With the Agastya lake and the marvelous rock cut temples, this place is a great option for a weekend getaway from Hampi.

The tour will start with the four cave temples in the southern hill. Three of these are Hindu temples with the fourth being a Jain temple. The next section is going to be a visit to the scenic Agastya Lake at the foot of the hill, and the Bhootnath Temple right next to it. This lake is said to be one of the most peaceful locations in Badami. A place where a picnic would be a great idea.

Your journey will then come to an end after a walkabout around the Malegitti Shivalaya, Upper Shivalaya, and the Lower Shivalaya temples.
