Explore the remnants of the Chalukya Dynasty in Badami, Pattadakal, and Aihole. Their unique architectural style that involves carving out temples into the hills is a marvel to behold and has been incorporated into the temples both Hindu and Jain. This tour gives you a comprehensive experience of these places by leading you through the trails left behind by the Chalukyas centuries ago.
You begin the tour with the four famous cave temples in the southern hill, and then a visit to the Boothnath temple on the banks of the Agastya Lake. These temples are known for their ornate interiors with inscriptions on the wall in both Kannada and Sanskrit. The lake offers a scenic view that really takes you back to the good old days
Your time in Pattadakal will be spent exploring the ten temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, all housed within the Pattadakkal Temple Complex. The famous ones are the Virupaksha temple and the Mallikarjuna Temple. A fun fact is that the temples in this complex all showcase a ‘Vesara’ Style of architecture.
Aihole once again boasts its intricate rock cut temples. Here you will be guided through the Ravana Phadi, the Durga Temple, and the Magadi Ranganathaswamy Temple, after which the tour will come to an end.
