Explore the rich heritage of Warangal with this comprehensive one-day tour.
Steeped in history, Warangal was the ancient capital of the Kakatiya Empire and has seen generations of rule and conquests, ending with it forming a part of the Hyderabad State at India's Independence and finally part of the more recently formed state of Telangana.
In this tour, we will visit the Warangal Fort which symbolizes the historical opulence of the region during the reign of Kakatiya Kingdom and the Swayambhu Temple which provides insight on the craftsmanship of the Kakatiyan sculptors.
At around 1:00 pm we will stop for lunch at a local restaurant in Hanmakonda, known to be the prior capital of the Kakatiya Empire.
We will then visit the Ramappa Temple which is 65 km away from Warangal, is constructed in the South Indian architectural style and is devoted to Lord Shiva.
For the last leg of our tour, we will go back to Warangal to visit the Thousand Pillar Temple which depicts the Chalukya style of architecture. This temple is one of the finest architectures built by the Kakatiyas.
