Postcards from Highest post office : Spiti Left bank Trek

This trek takes you through some of the highest villages in the world,in Spiti region of H.P., this region is disconnected from the world for half the year during winters. This is a perfect trek for those who want to explore the place like locals. The start point of this trek is Langza (14500 Ft.), a small and beautiful village, famous for fossils, and takes you through Hikkim (host to highest post office in the world), Komic, Demul, Lahlung and ends in Komic.


Day 1. Manali

Reach Manali in the morning and transfer to hotel. Relax and spend some time at hotel enjoying the picturesque view of mountains and the town. You may choose to go for walk to Manali town. Visit Hidimba temple and get a chance to interact with local people selling various hand made products (you may also chose to hike to nearby forest and waterfall area). Dinner and O/N at hotel

Tip of the Day: Relax and prepare for the journey. Make last minute shopping for the tour, take cash from ATM in case you need as there are not many ATM’s in spiti. Please purchase important medicine if you are on medication.

Day 2: Manali to Kaza via Rohtang Pass (220 Kms/ 10-12 Hrs)

Get ready for an adventures journey talking you to some of the remote yet picturesque places. First stop would be Rohtang Pass (3987). Spend some time at the pass and head to Spiti valley. You will begin to notice the change in terrain once we enter spiti valley. After crossing Gramphoo, be amazed with the astonishing beauty of Spiti valley. Enjoy the view of amazing waterfalls and snow capped mountains as your drive takes you along Chandra river in dirt trek. Reach Kaza in the evening. Relax as this has been a long and tiring day. Enjoy mint tea while you appreciate the calmness of the place. O/N Kaza

Tip of the Day: Start Early. Enjoy a cup of tea at Chandra Dhaba while talking to Bodh Dorjee and his wife Chandra affectionately called Chacha and Chachi.

Day 3: Kaza to Kye & Khibber & Back (40 Kms approx/ 2 Hrs)

Today is essentially acclimatization day. You may choose to relax at the hotel or else take a walk morning to kaza village (Only if you are feeling ok). After breakfast take a tour of Kye Monastery and Khibber Village. Kye monastery is situated on top of a mountain overlooking Spiti valley. Kye monastery founded in 11th century is a prominent learning centre of Buddhism. The monastery has a collection of ancient murals and books. From here we shall go up a little further and visit Khibber Village (4270 Mts) - which was once the world’s highest village. Enjoy picnic for lunch by the river. Later return to Kaza and relax at the hotel. O/N Kaza

Tip of the Day: Take it easy, venture out in the morning only if your body allow. Interact with resident Lamas (monks) and enjoy butter tea. It’s windy out there carry proper clothing.

Day 4– Kaza to Langza and then to Hikkim and Komic and start the trek to Komic (4 hours)

After early breakfast we leave for Langza village from kaza. Reach Hikkim and post some postcards to your family and friends from the highest post office in the world. Later proceed to Komic. Stay in a homestay and chat with your hosts while having some butter or mint tea. O/N at Homestay

Tip of the day: Post picture postcards from highest post office in the world (14000 Ft).

Day 5– Komic to Demul (4-5 hours)

After breakfast with your host family leave for Demul. A gradual trek will provide you some of the picturesque view of the valley, Click and capture. Reach Demul and interact with locals. Stay in Demul in a homestay

Tip of the day: Carry extra camera batteries

Day 6– Demul to Lahlung via Rama (5-6 hours)

After 2 easy days today’s trek is a bit though as you will ascend to Lahlung village. The trek starts with a steep descend till Rama village and then an ascend from Rama village to Lahlung. Visit 1000 yr old Sherkhang Monastery. Stay in a homestay

Day 7– Lahlung to Kaza via Dhankar (6 hours)

After breakfast start your day with some steep climb followed by gradual descend. Reach Dhankar lake and then proceed to Dhankar. Board a taxi and head to Kaza.

Day 08 – Kaza-Chandratal

After breakfast leave for Chandratal Lake (4250 Mts) via Losar. Continue the journey crossing Lohsar village and Kunzum Pass on our way. A small hike will lead you to Chandra Tal- Lake of the moon (named after its crescent shape) is around 1 KM long and will leave you speechless. O/N at camp

Tip of the day: Enjoy a wwalk along the lake. Capture the beauty of the place. Pick up any polybag or plastic bottle if you see any and dispose them in proper place.

Day 09:Chandratal-Manali

Wake up in the morning to witness the changing colors of the lake. Enjoy youyour breakfast while appreciating this scenic place. Leave for Manali after breakfast. This is the last lag of your spiti trip, GazGaze at the mountains as you approach the hustle and bustle of Rohtang Pass and Manali. Reach Manali by evening. Stay in Manali

Refund policy : In regard to refund of unused / unutilized services (which are paid for and cancelled in advance) the refund amount would be worked out on the basis of cancellation policy as described above and the money would be accordingly refunded to the person who has made the payment to us. Please note that the refund process may take 2 - 4 weeks due to banking procedures. If the refund is made to the credit card account OR to Bank account, the bank charges would be debited from the refund amount
Cancellations : 30 days & prior to arrival - 10% of the tour/service cost. 29 days to 15 days prior to arrival - 20% of the tour/service cost. 14 days to 08 days prior to arrival - 50% of the tour/service cost. 07 days & less, prior to arrival or no show - NO REFUND.
