Full day road trip (with my car – maximum 4 people) through the villages in the surroundings of Sibiu. You will understand which is the difference between the Romanian villages sitting at the foot of the mountains and the Saxon villages built in the same area in great number in the Middle Ages. After we will explore a few typical villages, you will better understand the historical context and why the Saxons settled in the area 800 years ago. Additionally, you will understand the phenomenon of the fortified churches, which are very widespread in this part of the country (~ 200 fortified churches which are still very well preserved). Eventually, we will hike 30-45 minutes to an Orthodox monastery up in the mountains, so please wear comfortable shoes.
*This tour has the same description as my other tour in the surroundings of Sibiu. You will see similar sights but not the same ones from the previous tour. This tour also includes a short hike and stops to different fortified churches than the one in the above-mentioned tour. However, I set the same price so that we can combine them while being on the road.
