The magnificent mountain range Serra de Collserola rises up over Barcelona Metropolitan Area. It is almost touching the city. For the huge population that lives around these mountains it forms a much-loved and incredibly valuable natural area and a great privilege to enjoy. Collserola is a well-preserved natural area – 22 times bigger than Central Park in New York. Though forest predominates it includes a variety of other plant formations that provide a habitat for valuable biological diversity as well.
We will walk through the magnificent Natural Park of Collserola from Barcelona to the city of Sant Cugat. Starting downtown and making use of the efficient public transport system of Barcelona we will get up to the mountain range and start the nature walk with amazing panoramic views over the city.
During the walk we will discover ruins and old chapels and you can enjoy a quiet moment away from the bustling city. The walk is fairly easy as it is mostly downhill. However, you should be able to walk a distance of 10 km.
The walk ends in Sant Cugat which is famous for its 9th century monastery that was the most important monastery in the county of Barcelona during the medieval times. We will have time to visit the Cathedral (if open) and finish the trip by rewarding ourselves in a local tapas bar with Sangria and Tapas.
By train we will return to Barcelona. With this tour you will discover more than the usual and feel like a local!
